The University of Maryland Eastern Shore competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and is a historically Black university located in Princess Anne, Maryland. The Hawks have a proud basketball tradition in the MEAC with several conference championships.
The Hawks mascot represents sharp vision and aerial dominance, chosen to give the Eastern Shore campus a fierce and competitive athletic identity.
The 1974 season under coach Kirkland Hall, when UMES earned an NCAA Tournament bid and competed on the national stage as a proud HBCU program.
Maryland Eastern Shore's campus is located on the Delmarva Peninsula, making road trips to conference opponents some of the longest in the MEAC.
The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks compete in the MEAC and hold an all-time record of 392–945 (.293 winning percentage) across 53 recorded seasons dating back to 1971-72.
