Robert Morris's basketball program began in 1979, and the Pittsburgh-area school competes in the Horizon League. The Colonials have won multiple conference titles and made several NCAA Tournament appearances.
The Colonials name honors Robert Morris, a Founding Father and financier of the American Revolution, who signed the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution.
