Cal State Fullerton's basketball program began in 1957 and the Titans compete in the Big West Conference. The program has made multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and is known for producing competitive teams despite limited resources. The Titans have been a consistent Big West contender.

Upsetting fourth-ranked New Mexico and then 11th-ranked San Francisco to reach the 1978 Elite Eight, where the Cinderella Titans fell 61-58 to Arkansas — one game short of the Final Four.
Cal State Fullerton's Titan Gym is one of the oldest basketball venues in the Big West, and the campus is located just minutes from Disneyland in Orange County.
