Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore has competed in the Patriot League since 2013 after more than two decades in the MAAC. The Greyhounds have made two NCAA Tournament appearances, winning MAAC titles in 1994 and 2012, and reached the Patriot League championship game in 2021.
The Greyhounds mascot was adopted in the 1920s, chosen for the breed's speed and elegance, giving the Jesuit university a distinctive athletic identity.
The 2012 MAAC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, where the Greyhounds beat Fairfield 48-44 in the final and represented the conference on the national stage for the first time since 1994.
Loyola Maryland is one of the few schools in the country with the Greyhound as its mascot, making it instantly recognizable among college athletics programs.
The Loyola Maryland Greyhounds compete in the Patriot League and hold an all-time record of 872–1072 (.449 winning percentage) across 85 recorded seasons dating back to 1907-08.
