New Hampshire Wildcats basketball — program history
The University of New Hampshire competes in the America East Conference and has a basketball tradition spanning over a century. The Wildcats have been competitive in their conference and occasionally contend for NCAA Tournament bids.
The name
The Wildcats mascot was adopted by a student vote in 1926, with the wildcat's scrappy, aggressive spirit seen as a fitting match for New Hampshire's athletic teams.
Signature moment
Back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2015-16 and 2016-17 under Bill Herrion, the best stretch of the program's Division I era.
UNH's Lundholm Gymnasium, an intimate ~3,000-seat venue that opened in the 1930s, remains one of the oldest and smallest arenas in Division I basketball and is still the Wildcats' home court.
The New Hampshire Wildcats compete in the America East and hold an all-time record of 677–1243 (.353 winning percentage) across 88 recorded seasons dating back to 1926-27.
