Saint Francis's basketball program dates to 1948, and the Loretto, Pennsylvania school competes in the Northeast Conference. The Red Flash have been a steady NEC competitor with occasional conference titles.
The Red Flash name originated in the 1920s when the school's red-clad athletes were said to move like a "red flash" across the field. The unique name has stuck ever since.
Winning the 2025 NEC Tournament to earn the program's first NCAA Tournament bid since 1991, one of the program's most successful recent seasons.
