Stetson's basketball program dates to 1900, and the DeLand, Florida school competes in the ASUN Conference. The Hatters have been a consistent presence in the conference, with occasional bursts of strong play.
The Hatters name comes from the university's namesake, John B. Stetson, the famous hat manufacturer whose family helped fund the school.
Winning the 2024 ASUN Conference Tournament to earn the first NCAA Tournament bid in program history, capping more than 50 years of Division I basketball without a trip to the Big Dance.
Stetson is named after John B. Stetson, creator of the iconic Stetson cowboy hat, making "Hatters" one of the most literally accurate nicknames in college sports.
