Furman's basketball program dates to 1908 at the private university in Greenville, South Carolina. The Paladins compete in the Southern Conference and have won multiple conference championships. The program has made several NCAA Tournament appearances.
The Paladins nickname refers to the twelve legendary knights of Charlemagne's court, chosen to represent honor, courage, and chivalric ideals.
Upsetting fourth-seeded Virginia 68-67 in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament on JP Pegues' go-ahead three-pointer with 2.4 seconds left, one of March Madness's most thrilling finishes.
Furman is one of the few schools with the Paladins mascot, and the university's beautiful lakeside campus in Greenville has been ranked among the most scenic in America.
The Furman Paladins compete in the Southern and hold an all-time record of 1397–1323 (.514 winning percentage) across 105 recorded seasons dating back to 1919-20.
