Wofford's basketball program dates to the early 1900s, and the Spartanburg, South Carolina school competes in the Southern Conference. The Terriers have had impressive recent success, including NCAA Tournament wins.
The Terriers name was adopted because the terrier dog breed is known for being feisty, tenacious, and punching above its weight — a perfect metaphor for the small liberal arts college.
Upsetting No. 7 seed Seton Hall 84-68 in the 2019 NCAA Tournament as a 10-seed, behind Fletcher Magee's sharpshooting and a 30-4 record.
Fletcher Magee became the NCAA's all-time leader in career three-pointers made while at Wofford, cementing the Terriers as one of the best shooting teams in college basketball during his era.
