Fordham's basketball program dates to 1903 at the Jesuit university in the Bronx, New York. The Rams compete in the Atlantic 10 and enjoyed their greatest success in the 1950s-70s, including NIT appearances and producing NBA talent. The program carries the tradition of New York City basketball.
The Rams nickname was adopted in the early 1900s, chosen to represent the powerful, charging nature of the male sheep and the university's fighting spirit.
The 1971 season when Fordham reached the NCAA Tournament and gave a strong account of itself, led by standout players from the New York City basketball scene.
Fordham's Rose Hill campus in the Bronx has been featured in numerous films and TV shows, and the school's original Rose Hill Gym is one of the most historic basketball venues in New York City.
The Fordham Rams compete in the A-10 and hold an all-time record of 1587–1500 (.514 winning percentage) across 118 recorded seasons dating back to 1902-03.
