Kennesaw State is a relatively new Division I program, having transitioned from Division II in 2005. Located in the Atlanta suburb of Kennesaw, Georgia, the Owls compete in Conference USA and are still building their basketball tradition at the highest level.
The Owls mascot was chosen to represent wisdom and knowledge, aligning with the university's academic mission when it was founded as a junior college in 1963.
Earning the program's first NCAA Tournament bid in 2023 by winning the ASUN Conference Tournament, marking a milestone for the young Division I program.
Kennesaw State is one of the youngest Division I basketball programs in the country, having only been competing at the top level since 2005.
The Kennesaw State Owls compete in the CUSA and hold an all-time record of 226–425 (.347 winning percentage) across 21 recorded seasons dating back to 2005-06.
