Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana, competes in Conference USA and has a basketball history that includes an appearance in the 1985 AP Top 25 and several NCAA Tournament bids. The Bulldogs have produced NBA talent including Karl Malone, one of the greatest power forwards ever.
The Bulldogs mascot was adopted early in the school's history to represent tenacity and determination, a common but fitting choice for the Ruston-based institution.
Karl Malone's dominant tenure from 1982-1985, during which "The Mailman" became one of the most feared players in college basketball before being drafted 13th overall by the Utah Jazz.
Karl Malone is the most famous athlete from Louisiana Tech and went on to score 36,928 career NBA points, the second-most in league history at the time of his retirement.
