Morehead State Eagles basketball — program history

Morehead State University in eastern Kentucky competes in the Ohio Valley Conference and has produced competitive basketball teams for decades. The Eagles have made multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and produced notable NBA players.

The name

The Eagles mascot represents the bald eagles that soar over the Daniel Boone National Forest near Morehead, symbolizing freedom and strength.

Signature moment

The 2011 NCAA Tournament first-round upset of #4 seed Louisville, sealed by Demonte Harper's three-pointer with 4.3 seconds left and Kenneth Faried's dominant 12-point, 17-rebound performance.

Kenneth Faried became the NCAA's all-time rebounding leader during his career at Morehead State, surpassing Tim Duncan's record with 1,673 career rebounds.
