Central Connecticut's basketball program began around 1930 in New Britain, Connecticut. The Blue Devils compete in the NEC and have won multiple conference championships. The program has made several NCAA Tournament appearances as the NEC's automatic qualifier.
The Blue Devils nickname was adopted in the early days of the athletics program, with the blue reflecting the school's colors and the 'Devils' adding a fierce competitive edge.
Winning the 2007 NEC Tournament championship to earn an NCAA Tournament bid, one of the program's proudest moments on the national stage.
Central Connecticut's Detrick Gymnasium is one of the most intimate venues in Division I basketball, and New Britain is known as the 'Hardware City' for its manufacturing history.
The Central Connecticut Blue Devils compete in the NEC and hold an all-time record of 481–689 (.411 winning percentage) across 40 recorded seasons dating back to 1986-87.
