Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, competes in the Patriot League and is best known for one of the greatest upsets in NCAA Tournament history. The Mountain Hawks have produced NBA player C.J. McCollum and maintain an intense rivalry with nearby Lafayette.
The Mountain Hawks name was adopted in 1996, replacing the previous "Engineers" nickname to better reflect the rugged South Mountain terrain surrounding the Bethlehem campus.
The 2012 NCAA Tournament first-round upset of #2 seed Duke, 75-70, behind C.J. McCollum's 30 points — one of the biggest upsets in tournament history.
C.J. McCollum scored 30 points in Lehigh's upset of Duke and went on to a decorated NBA career, winning the league's Most Improved Player award in 2016 and later serving as president of the players' union.
The Lehigh Mountain Hawks compete in the Patriot League and hold an all-time record of 1194–1533 (.438 winning percentage) across 125 recorded seasons dating back to 1901-02.
