Ohio University in Athens competes in the Mid-American Conference and has a basketball tradition that includes a 1964 Elite Eight run. The Bobcats have produced NBA players and maintain one of the most passionate fan bases in the MAC.
The Bobcats mascot was adopted in 1925, named after the wild bobcats found in the hills of southeastern Ohio surrounding the Athens campus.
The 2012 Sweet 16 run, when 13-seed Ohio upset No. 4 Michigan and took top-seeded North Carolina to overtime, reaching the program's first Sweet 16 since 1964.
The Convocation Center in Athens is known as "The Convo" and is considered one of the toughest road environments in the MAC due to its intimate seating and rowdy student section.
The Ohio Bobcats compete in the MAC and hold an all-time record of 1659–1248 (.571 winning percentage) across 118 recorded seasons dating back to 1907-08.
