Tulane's basketball program dates to 1907, and the New Orleans school competes in the American Athletic Conference. The Green Wave have had competitive stretches and benefit from the vibrant culture and recruiting appeal of New Orleans.
The "Green Wave" name originated in 1920 when a song about the school's "rolling green wave" was written, replacing the "Olive and Blue" identity. The Riptide pelican mascot was added later.
Reaching the 1996 NIT semifinals at Madison Square Garden, one of the program's deepest postseason runs in the modern era.
Tulane's campus is located on the iconic St. Charles Avenue streetcar line in Uptown New Orleans, and the school's basketball games are infused with the city's unmatched energy and culture.
The Tulane Green Wave compete in the AAC and hold an all-time record of 1326–1403 (.486 winning percentage) across 116 recorded seasons dating back to 1905-06.
