Arkansas State's basketball program started in 1914 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The Red Wolves compete in the Sun Belt Conference and have won multiple conference titles. The program has made occasional NCAA Tournament appearances and produced a few professional players.
The school changed its nickname from 'Indians' to 'Red Wolves' in 2008, choosing the red wolf because it is a native endangered species of the Arkansas region.
Winning the 1999 Sun Belt Conference Tournament to earn an NCAA Tournament bid, one of the program's most exciting postseason runs.
Arkansas State's First National Bank Arena is one of the largest on-campus arenas in the Sun Belt, and the university's change to 'Red Wolves' made it the first D-I school with that mascot.
The Arkansas State Red Wolves compete in the Sun Belt and hold an all-time record of 823–793 (.509 winning percentage) across 53 recorded seasons dating back to 1968-69.
