USC's basketball program dates to 1907, and while the Trojans are better known for football, they have a rich basketball history. USC has made multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and produced NBA stars like DeMar DeRozan, O.J. Mayo, and Nick Young.
The Trojans name was adopted in 1912, chosen by LA Times reporter Owen Bird who compared USC athletes to the warriors of ancient Troy for their fighting spirit against larger opponents.
Reaching the Elite Eight in 2021 behind Evan Mobley, who dominated as a freshman before being drafted third overall in the NBA Draft.
USC's Galen Center sits at the corner of Figueroa and Jefferson on the edge of campus, just two miles from downtown Los Angeles — one of the most urban settings in college basketball — and the school's deep entertainment-industry ties have brought plenty of celebrity fans courtside.
The USC Trojans compete in the Big Ten and hold an all-time record of 1743–1299 (.573 winning percentage) across 116 recorded seasons dating back to 1906-07. The program has reached 1 Final Four.
